"Mom, I'm hungry!"

Happy Friday! I hope your day is going well. Thank you for stopping by today. How many times have you heard, "I'm hungry!" or "What's for dinner?" Here's a great breakfast recipe!

I found this recipe a few years ago somewhere on the internet....for the life of me I cannot remember where it came from. But, the first time I made this casserole, we were having a Nanny/Poppy sleepover here at the house. We spent time in fellowship and talked about our family (in the best sense of the word)...This dish is fittingly called Darrell's Almost Famous Breakfast Casserole, because just a few days later, my nephew, Darrell, went home to Heaven. Every time I make this dish now, I always think about him and what a sweet young man he was! He loved his Lord, his family and always had time to play with even the youngest of the group! Oh, so many people long for Heaven!!!

And, now, the recipe. It's pretty easy and very yummy! Sorry, I don't have a picture of this...

Darrell's Almost Famous Breakfast Casserole

32 ounces tator tots
1 pound sausage
6 large eggs
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Spray a 9"x13" pan with cooking spray.
Line the pan with tator tots. (Because I'm a little OCD, I always make sure the tator tots are in nice neat rows. ;-)
Sprinkle with salt.
Bake for 15 minutes.
While the tator tots bake, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Drain well and set aside.
In a separate bowl, whip the eggs with a little water, salt, and pepper.
After the tator tots are finished, lower the oven temperature to 375 degrees F.
Pour the eggs over the tator tots.
Cover with sausage.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until eggs are set.
After the eggs are set, remove from oven and spread the cheese on top.
Return to oven until the cheese melts.
Enjoy!

To spice this up a bit, add some chopped onions and peppers to the sausage while it's cooking...

Forgiveness...

Thankful Thursday is here...and almost over! It's been one of those days where I didn't get a chance to sit down this morning. But that's okay.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a video on the power of forgiveness...it's a powerful video that I saw just a few weeks ago. Made me thankful for the parents I have, and it also made me desire to be a great example for my children!

The Kitchen Project...

Happy Wednesday! This won't be wordless, but just a little explanation. :) On Thursday, I mentioned that I was working on an easy project for the kitchen. I do not have "before" pictures, but just think about those really nice 90's smooth, brass knobs and pulls...have that picture?

Well, goodbye, 1990's! Hello, new kitchen! And it only cost about $6.00! Yea!!!

First, Hubbie and I removed the hardware and made sure they were clean and dry.

Then, I got two boxes...one large box and one small box...and placed the small one inside the large one. I put the knobs in the box and went to work. The pulls were done later.

Third, I used this...

to cover the brass. I put on enough coats until the lovely brass was no longer showing...make sure you follow the directions on the can about protecting the surrounding area and about the temperature. Please do this outside! :) The primer gave the knobs and pulls a lovely texture that we are really enjoying!

After the primer was dry, I used this can...

and sprayed on the beautiful new finish!

Tonight is Candy Give-Away night at our church...my kiddos are pumped! :)

Horse Show

This past Thursday, we were blessed to receive tickets for box office seats at a local horse show. Yes, box office seats! It was really nice! My oldest daughter loves anything and everything about horses...so, needless to say, she enjoyed the evening.

I had never been to a horse show before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. There was not a sell-out crowd, but the jumps were decorated so beautifully! There was a set course for the first competition, and then some terrier races (very cute!). The final part of the evening was when the contestants dressed in their costumes and competed for points based on the jumps that they and their horse were able to complete. You can see the point values in some of the pictures. Superwoman, Captain Hook, a pirate on the high seas, and others joined us that night! :)

Should I go for it or not? This was a bonus jump worth 200 points if the horse made it over the fence without knocking off any rails...minus 200 if he didn't make it...

Blessings from Church

My church is in the middle of Bible Conference. I love being around other believers and we had some really great preaching yesterday morning! (I was at home last night with one of our children). The speaker was Evangelist Wil Rice, from the Bill Rice Ranch, and his sermon was on prayer.

Many times our prayers are very generic...and we don't get prayers answered. Then we get frustrated, bored, lazy...Here's what he read:

Philippians 4:5-7
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Brother Rice encouraged us to:

1. Ask who? Ask God
2. Ask how? Specifically
3. Ask for what? For every thing

Now, read the answers all as one sentence...ask God specifically for every thing.

After God answers a prayer, we should give Him thanks! I have some specific prayer requests that I'll be taking to the throne today...how about you?

Thankful Thursday

This Thankful Thursday, I am thankful that:

my hubbie is able to work from home today. I am so thankful that he is such a hard worker and a "Mr. Steady" kind of guy! I can always count on him. He is a faithful partner!

my pastor loves his members!

my oldest daughter is feeling much better today...no fever...just a cough!

my little guy is learning his blends (ta, te, ti, to, tu, la, le, li, lo, lu, etc.) and is so excited to "do school".

my youngest blessing is crawling all over the house now--keeping the rest of us on our toes! :)

the sun is shining brightly today.

I am working on an easy kitchen project...pictures will come when I am finished...but I will say that the results so far are transforming the look and feel of the kitchen...

we have some fun plans for the evening (if everyone is feeling up to it)

Wordless Wednesday

The Country House

I absolutely love to decorate for the seasons! My husband's stepmom got me started on seasonal decorating some years back. :) Autumn is one of my favorite seasons...there are so many rich, earthy colors.

One of my favorite places to shop is at The Country House. (For some reason, I cannot get the "insert link" to work right. If you google "the country house", their website will come up.) I think it is the largest craft store on the East Coast, and whenever I am in that area, I always stop in for a visit. If you ever get a chance to visit there, it is worth your time!

Here are a few treasures I found for this fall.




This beautiful berry wreath and Kandy Korn candle look so festive on our table. I also have place mats, napkins, and curtains to match the table runner. :)



This is some primitive candy corn and a wooden candy corn that I have in the living room. I think it is so cute!

I normally leave up the autumn things through November so that I don't have a lot of redecorating to do for Thanksgiving. Have you finished your autumn decorating?

We've Moved!

Happy Monday to you all! After some careful consideration about my previous blog, Hubbie and I thought that the title needed to be changed. So, I am changing the blog to Blessings at Our House. I think it's important to count our blessings...we have been given much!

I hope that you had a great weekend. I am glad we got some much needed rain, but the sunshine sure is a welcome sight this morning. :)

Here is a yummy recipe from my Mom's extensive collection. It's fairly easy and it's tasty, too!


Noodles--Pizza Style

8 ounces noodles (egg, elbow, spirals, etc.)
1 pound hamburger
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 -2 cups pizza sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt
1/2 cup pizza sauce
6 ounces grated mozzarella
2 to 4 ounces pepperoni

• Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
• Spray a 9"x 13" baking dish with cooking spray.
• Cook and drain the noodles according to package directions.
• Brown the hamburger and onion. Drain. Add the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt. Then mix with the noodles.
• Pour into prepared baking dish.
• Top with the extra pizza sauce.
• Top with mozzarella and pepperoni.
• Bake for 20 minutes.

Enjoy with bread sticks and a salad!

Thankful Thursday

I have seen several blogs with this wonderful idea of Thankful Thursday, and I would like to join in every week. My friend, Jennifer, has some really great posts. :) She is the one who got me started reading blogs...and as the saying goes, "The rest is history."

Today, I am thankful for my salvation. I said a prayer as a five year old. Looking back, I do not believe that I was truly saved. When I was a sophomore in college, I heard a salvation message that got me thinking. Am I truly on my way to Heaven? I did not know for sure, so the next evening (I do not know why I waited until the next evening) I talked with a lady on the college staff, and she showed me the Romans Road. I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and to come into my heart and save me. I know for sure that if I died today, I would go to Heaven! Do you have that assurance today?

My First Post

Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad that you stopped by. After reading so many wonderful blogs for over a year now, it is time to start my own! You ladies have given me inspiration!

I hope to post about my family and our life together. There may even be a few recipes every now and then. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I may add some of those, too! My goal for this blog is to glorify the Lord Jesus!
