Home~what a wonderful place to be! Oh, the joys of walking through the front door, of "going home" after a semester in college, of seeing all the special people that live at home. Today, I am thankful for the actual building that my family calls "home".
Hubbie and I have lived in our home for the last 7 1/2 years. During that time, we have painted all but two rooms, added trimwork, hung blinds, laid new carpet and wood floors, hung new curtains, changed out old appliances with new, energy-efficient ones, put pictures on the walls...but does all this work make our house a home?
It definitely adds to the comfort level and the beauty of our home, and I love all the changes we have made...but I think the spirit of our home is more important than anything else. Do we use our home to show God's love to other people? Do folks feel welcomed and loved when they come through the front door? I certainly hope they do, but these are just some thoughts going through my head this morning and I am being challenged to evaluate my hospitality...
I have a ladies meeting tonight, so I'm off to get schooling done and to bake a chocolate cake for the meeting (what's a meeting without a few snacks, right?) :)

Good Morning, Donna!
What a lovely home! (All of the snow looks similar to what we have here in Iowa! ;-) I know all too well the feelings of contentment and joy that "home" brings ~ what a blessing! Also, what a blessing to invest in your home through painting and fixing it up... We purchased our first home in 2007 and have been enjoying fixing it up also - it certainly can be fun!! ;-)
Hope you have a wonderful day baking, schooling, and meeting with your ladies group this evening! :-)

Beautiful thoughts, Donna. I didn't get a chance to stop by yesterday, but I loved that poem. It is so easy to want to be noticed, but all that really matters is that God notices us. What a convicting and beautiful reminder!
And was so glad to hear that was your beautiful family in that beach picture. But is this your house with all the snow? We got a lot of snow, but I don't think that much! I am so ready for spring!
Beautiful home! You have a splendid background, too! Thanks for sharing this picture, Donna.
God bless your home, sweet home.
Beautiful home and the snow is awesome looking! Can't wait to let you know what my question is about!!
Wow look at that snow! You have a beautiful home! It looks like mine could fit in there about four times! Glad you enjoy it and have had fun redecorating!
Your home is, indeed, beautiful...both the "physical" and the atmosphere - a true reflection of you and your family!!
I haven't seen those changes in the kitchen yet. I know they look terrific. Were those Country House curtains?? :)
Looking forward to seeing you tonight - thanks for your willingness to help!!
Home is all about the people isn't it? I also love to make a nice comfy home for our family but if it's not filled with love it wouldn't be very inviting!
I would love to see more of your decorating, I love what I saw under your decorating label on your sidebar.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I am so ready for spring...how about you? Your home is really pretty. We live in a 90 year old house...pretty soon we'll have a century home. I would love a newer home...for the modern conveniences of say...closets! But God gives us all what we need doesn't he? I love working in my home...painting is one of my favorite things...even though it is hard work.
You are a very gracious lady...I am sure that people feel exactly that when they walk through your front door. Have a good meeting...your chocolate cake sounds tempting!
Blessings!
Joyce Marie
